Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email messages may be retained long enough to answer and administer the correspondence. They remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Routine server logs may record technical information when a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps
- The referring site, when one is supplied
- Pages viewed and approximate visit duration
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- The device’s assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure traffic patterns, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers may combine those observations into aggregate reports. A browser can block cookies, although some website functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a submitted query to the selected search provider
- Maintain performance and website availability
- Diagnose errors and other technical problems
- Understand which pages visitors use
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
No database of personal criminal records is compiled, maintained, or sold here. Johnson County material remains with the Circuit Clerk, Sheriff and local police, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Justice Information Services Division, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data are not assembled into third-party profiles or consumer reports, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the provider’s privacy policy, including its retention and sharing rules. Review those terms before running a query because we do not direct the provider’s data practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Johnson County offices, Missouri agencies, courts, legal services, or outside search tools. The destination’s privacy policy applies after leaving this website. Read it before supplying personal data.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and choose targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data are not sold. Limited information may be handled by:
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers receiving a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks serving content on these pages
- A public authority when a valid legal order compels disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used for collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect protection, so an unauthorized access event can never be ruled out completely.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified report that a minor supplied information will be addressed by deleting that material.
Your Data Rights
Missouri’s Sunshine Law, Chapter 610 RSMo, governs access to public governmental records, while criminal-history reporting and dissemination are addressed in sections 43.500 through 43.506 RSMo. Those public-record rules do not turn this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Ask whether personal data about them are retained
- Request a copy of retained personal data
- Seek correction or deletion where applicable
- Opt out of eligible processing activities
Updates to This Policy
Revisions to this policy will appear here with a new effective date. Reviewing the current version is the best way to understand the practices in effect during a visit.
